taken together with the spitball case, there seems to be a trend toward prosecuting students for trivial offenses. naturally like all the other assaults on the constitution we witness, the pros and cons are pretty well divided between educators and developmental psychologists who call it counterproductive and unnecessary trauma and law enforcement with their usual rah-rah.

When many of us were in school, disrupting class or using profanity earned you a trip to the principal's office. But today in Texas, more students are being sent to court instead. And not juvenile court, criminal court. KVUE's Andrew Horansky reports.

:sarcasm

You have to love our Justice System. Always focusing on the important issues within our own nation. A clear example of our tax dollars being put into work to push those who dare to use banana buzzers, spitballs, profanity, or even the excessive use of perfume. I am insulted that we, the people of this nation, dare complain that nothing is being done to stop the severe violence in our society in this day and age. Let us all remember these actions take by the school and the courts to remind us how foolish we are to want more than what they provide for us nowadays. I am appalled at anyone who thinks justice is blind.

what do you say to a poor person wearing a suit?

will the defendant please rise?

one educator interviewed said something about how this was introducing people to the criminal justice system at a very early age. all part of their education, getting conditioned to obey laws, pay fines, do community service and not go apeshit postal with an ak-47 in a crowded auditorium.

If this is apart of a new "learning trend" then I suppose we should view father's who rape their own children as "educators" who are just introducing them to the harsh world that is out there at a very early age. Then the "educational" parent could simply argue in court that it was all apart of their "education", getting conditioned to prepare for the worst, prepare not to feel like garbage, prepare to feel unsafe, and to never trust anyone including your very own family. Wow, the educational system sure knows how to provide ammo for future criminals looking for a good argument for their own misdeeds.

Ya know cologne and perfume shouldnt be worn to school. I was in JCPenney once in the mens section. a woman was at bthe jewelry counter 100 feet away and she was wearing so much perfume it burned my eyes. My eyes were literally red.

you might have hit on a whole new branch of law enforcement there, dana -- the smell police!

dogs and everything! think of it. you could sign an assault by stench warrant on the hag. and we can finally get those awful people who never bathe off the streets! hell, we've already got plenty of noise ordinances; there are even provisions in the health code for offensive odors. toss your ass right off a bus or out of a club if you smell too ripe already. a little quick addition to the penal code and presto! a stream of revenue producing defendants.

brilliant, dana!

okay, so your little crumpet eaters aren't taking guns to school and blowing people away, but i see plenty of demented crap show up in the guardian and on rotten.com.

what about that 'happy slapping' shit they do?

Sorry, did you just try and compare shooting a bunch of people dead to slapping spomeone? :24::24::24: Priceless!

not really, but i'm always happy to amuse people. from what i understand, it's a fair bit more than slapping. they randomly choose somebody to beat the crap out of and then podcast the beating. naturally, when they did it in the us somebody died.

Wow, I think that's amazing!! Kids can't even hug these days without being charged for sexual assult..lol...I mean c'mon, if I were a kid in elementary school today I'd be given the death penalty for pity sakes.....I argued with all the cute boys there that they were indeed my boyfriend, not because I knew what that meant mind you....lol...but because they were boys and my friends too....therefore, they were my boyfriends. Nobody had as many boyfriends as I did at that age....lol. Oh...and I once kissed Anson Delorey in the hallway by the water fountain.....he was way too cute for words and I knew that he liked me too, because he gave me a spiderman sticker when we were lined up outside that morning.....;)

I think we need to chill and allow kids to grow up without a net......so to speak. And as far as perfume is concerned, I can understand having allergies to strong cheap perfumes, myself, I have no use for them, but I think in this case, it was taken way out of proportion, put up signs stressing scent free areas but don't take it to court, that's just crazy.

How about for being weak minded enough to let "bullies" influence her behavior like that, if a person tried to make fun of me saying I was fat/smelled/ugly or whatever I'd just laugh in their face and go on about my day, I wouldn't SLATHER myself in perfume the next day.

dk, the girl's mother is fat, ugly and whiny, too. you can make whatever claims you like here, but i'd lay 10 to 1 odds that if the school bully was all over your ass with his buddies, like seems to be the case here, eventually you'd either break down and cry or go toe to toe with them.

i was getting harassed in high school by a group of white supremacist punks for wearing a yarmulke. the school did nothing when i complained and since it was a daily thing, eventually i had to go toe to toe.

I would simply start humming the tune to "Jesus Loves Me" and make a run for it while the bullies breakout in laughter. That is just me of course. :D
