Teen expelled-facing criminal charges re: spitballs

and such a shame he won't be going to the naval academy either. what a load of crap.

all the players on this movie set are full of crap; the kid, his father, the principal, the school board, the sheriff, fox news and all of us for even giving this nonsense the time of day.

Yep. Seems childish and ridiculous. However...... It's all fun and games until someone gets their eye popped out.... or some such thing. Those were plastic balls being spit at the students. Not paper wads. This kid had priors. Perhaps he was being immature and wasn't using his common sense...... whatever.

The charges seem extreme to be sure. I hope they look at the whole picture once again and find something more suitable as far as punishment goes. Because he does deserve some sort of punishment.

There is something I never understood...

What this kid did would be considered assault in any other setting except school. Why is that?

I know the school district that I attended had a policy that if you got into legal trouble ie a fight, the police were called and you were taken away in cuffs. Why isn't this the policy everywhere? I know in my school with 1500 students fights were nonexistent.

the kid is a douchebag with priors. granted the whole thing is theater of the absurd, but frankly i'm glad we're not going to spend $5 million turning him into a naval officer.

Tim r u honestly equating blowing a spitball with a "fight"? be honest Tim shame the devil....

What he did was not even close to a spitball. If it were just a spitball I would be saying anything over a 3 day suspension would be too harsh. And I only say 3 days because of his prior record.

But he was shooting plastic beads. I know how much harm that can do because my 3 brothers and I use to do the exact same thing. They would hurt like hell. And I knew much better than to pull that crap in school. My parents would have had my ass.
We would also use popping corn as ammunition. And believe me when I say you can break glass with it. It's not even in the same league as spitballs.
