Cyclone Yasi is predicted to hit by 10 pm tonight. It will be...the worst in living memory, and HUGE evacuations have been underway for the last 24 hours.
I have friends and relatives in Townsville, and can only hope they have all gotten out already.

Sarah's aunt is up that way and has been keeping me updated on facebook. Hope she's ok. Just glad that my missus in Toowoomba is likely to miss it. It's the last thing they need after the floods!

Instead of losing power as most Cyclones do...this one is gaining momentum. It was just upgraded from cat.4 to 5

I think it was Katrina that strengthened but then died at the very last minute. If you can call a Cat 3 dying. But it was a Cat 5 right as it was coming in. If memory serves.

Sucks either way.
