Does snow Stick or does it lay

How do you describe it when it snows. Here we say it lays if the ground is cold enough for the snow to amount to anything

So to you, does snow stick or Lay?? or do you say something else

but when it hits the ground. Some people say it lays and some people say it sticks.

The snow covers the ground. lol I've never heard it said the snow is sticking or laying on the ground. It sounds awkward to me. But then again there are many different ways to say many different things.

I picked stick because that's what my family all says from all the years back in New York. However. I've only seen snow (that I can remember seeing) three times in my life.
