I live in the South on purpose. This week the high is not expected to approach 50 all week. Windy every day too. Lows in the mid-20's each night. Not happy.

You people who live where it snows regular don't understand. This is cold for here. The temperature during the day is not unbearable but 20 MPH winds added really cool you down quick.
we get that here and we have burst pipes to deal with.
But y'all up north have to understand, when you live in places like Alabama and Georgia (and Mississippi) you don't expect to ever see lows below the 40s. It's abnormal. A light jacket over a sweatshirt should be more than sufficient on any given day during oyster season.

I woke up to frost on the grass this morning. When I was out it was 46 degrees. I have no idea if that is normal for here but I can tell you I wasn't expecting to feel this cold after living in NY for almost 2 years. I thought I was acclimated for the cold weather but apparently not. It's going to be in the 50's and it still feels cold to me. We have the heat on today and I'm wearing a hoodie. Still cold!
The other thing is that you Northerners have houses built for this crap. You have wardrobes designed for this crap. Your blood is thicker than ours. You are prepared for it.
My house has MAYBE 6 inches of insulation and some HUGE windows. Up North, the insulation is a couple of feet thick in the attic and also in the walls (which we don't do) and you don't have these massive bay windows.
Bring your Northern asses down here in July when it's 110 with 100% humidity and we'll see who keels over dead first.

Not to mention the dampness in the cold. When I was in college we had people from all over in our dorms. I took trash out in a T-shirt & shorts when it was in the mid-30's. I was stopped by two girls, one from Ohio & one from New York, they said they had never been colder in their life than they were here in the 30's.
I guess now is the wrong time to say it's around 68˚F here... and that is is 10pm already :24:
