I know what you mean! There are gas stations out here called Fas Gas and it bugs the crap out of me. It's supposed to be Fast but they dropped the T so it goes with Gas. I will never, ever fill up there. I have standards! :willy_nilly:

Speaking of school..... I would just love when the teachers of my children would send home a note or comment on the report cards.... with misspelled words! Holy crap! These people are teaching our kids their mistakes!

Not my kids...... because I would point out the errors to my kids and have to explain why a TEACHER would not know how to spell things. I'd just say they must have been in a hurry and weren't thinking straight... or some such nonsense.

I think my kids knew the truth..... based on some of those teachers.... how could they not? ;)

Oh.... and in the city closest to where I live.... I swear.... all the people learned from the same group of people how to use saw and seen incorrectly!

Typical conversation...

Joe.... "Did you see that car at the show last night?"

Tom.... "I seen it for sure. Awesome man!"

Joe.... "Yeah. I seen it first thing."

If you are going to use seen in a sentence... you have to use HAVE or HAD before it. Such as.....

"I have seen that." .... or ..... "I had seen that one earlier." .... or ..... better yet.... just say .... "I saw it."

And those that use WAS incorrectly drive me mad!

We was gonna go there last night.

Was is for singular use! I was gonna go there last night. If it's two or more.... then say "We were gonna go there last night.

If I were a teacher.... I'd have a ruler in hand to smack idiots with. And I'm not talking about their children. :cool

A little off topic, but the line I highlighted REALLY pisses me off. :mad

Yeah it made me mad at the time too. But now I'm ok with it.

I know it may seem backwards, but sometimes there's a reason why it's a man's job. Not saying girl's can't do it, but it's like going offshore - that is not a woman's job even if a woman could do it!

They did eventually hire a few girls with experience, but it was always mostly men.

Okay.... I can read that.... but I don't want to. Talk to me using real correctly spelled words.... or I'm going to skip conversing with you.....

Too much to ask? :)

.... besides.... I'm an excellent teacher.... I could teach you.... things..... many many things.....

Might not improve your spelling.... but it'd put a smile on your face. ;)

No worries. At least it will be honest.

I have no problems with honest mistakes either.
For instance the person that used C for G it was either done on purpose or they just didnt know either way I am good with.

I dont feel any better than anyone if I know how to spell a word that someone doesnt.
I might joke around have have alot of fun...in general though I am not in favor of mocking or degrading someone ;)

Oh I agree wholeheartedly. Nothing to gain by being mean to someone and shoving errors in their face.

Mostly.... when I was PAID to proofread other's work.... I was very casual about it. Never condescending.

With others.... if it meant saving them from embarrassment... I'd let them know what I found.

..... but with the kids.... they pointed the teacher's errors out to me at times. Luckily, they didn't get uppity with the teacher and point it out. I think they became excellent spellers because of me. My own mom would make spelling a game when I was growing up. She helped me learn spelling words for tests and spelling bees.

I bet there are plenty of words that I can't spell if asked. You know.... medical terminology and scientific terms.... :)
