this really good camera to get a picture thing

i get this alot when people see some of my insects.....usually off people who dont understand

where i have some reasonable equipment thats not all there is to it.now you can ask guyzer this as well,anyone can spend a fortune on equipment but still not get what they're after,whether it be like me with insect,guyzer with birds or tuffdisc with his concert shots......imagination is needed,think about it if you will....no wild bird or insect is going to let you just amble on up and take pictures of it,so some sort of stealth and knowing your subject is required.i for instance know exactly what species of dragonfly i can get close to locally,possibly the same applies to guyzers birds of prey...what i'm saying s that once your in the best position,taking the shot is the easy part.....getting in the required position is the hard part.....and as with anything the more you do it the better you get.

People see my bazooka attached to a body with a grip and they say" Wow, that's a big camera... it must take beautiful pictures to which I always reply " ya... it's taken a few nice ones " or if I'm in a pissy mood I very sarcastically say " ya... it's all in the camera. " To most people those comments zing right over their head.

The camera doesn't make a picture good but it does assist in making a good picture. Sounds confusing doesn't it? What I mean by that is it assists in clarity, smooth grain, accurate duplication of colors, stopping motion and so on. That said, you still have to know how to use it, you still need to know something about your subjects be they live or stationary. Anyone can take a picture but not many can take a picture most people enjoy looking at. eg: Telephone poles sticking out of someones head, silhouetted birds because of the suns location, blurred people shots etc. You have to think about what the end result will be before you press the button.

On a side note... I've seen some absolutely fabulous photos taken with a 2 mp cell phone. :eek

I know, they don't understand photography, they see Lord V's photos, or another person's photos, and they go "ooh, ahh fantastic", etc...when they see mine, they like go..."soooooo?" Makes me laugh at times, they like expect that if you don't have the equipment, you're no good to them

having a good camera not enough .. the camera i got it is ok nothing special does take good pictures but my problem is i never bother to change the setting and be the correct to what i need it for the time
so most turn bad

Some people have won competitions on P&S cameras, so proves the point that it isn't all about the equipment/camera, it is about the composition.

How you get the "perfect" composition, depends on your technical knowledge on photography and sometimes on timing

i know someone who's a star gazer,got an old 350d and got the attachment to fit it to a cheap telescope.....the results were pretty decent

I don't know of the guy you're talking about so I'll just generalize.

Lots of times it's easy to recognize a famous photographers shots because they follow a style and lots of times they are recognized because their name is attached to it. If you took an unknown persons shot that was along the same style and quality and left the name out many " professionals " wouldn't have a clue who took. If they were asked they would probably say " the famous guy ". Elephants have been known to paint pictures and many experts judged them as masterpieces without knowing who the hell did it. In other words a name can make the difference.

Lord V, as far as his bio goes, was a micro biologist....i.e. a person who knows about lil insects etc....he mainly takes macro photos of insects and plants now, though I don't know if he is still a micro biologist

thing is though tuffy.....he has the best equipment and editing tools,fair play that he knows how to use them but he still has them

So if they walked up to a race car driver next to his car and said his car must go pretty fast, that he should be offended because it's his skill that wins races and not the car?

Why can't you just take the compliment and not read into it so much. I'm pretty sure that the vast majority of people understand it's not the camera taking the impressive shots, it's the photographer.

Tim that isn't the case. Most people think it's the camera and give very little credence to the photographers skills. Comparing cameras to race cars is a bit outlandish imo because anyone with common sense would know you don't start off with one of those. It takes years to master them. With cameras anyone can spend thousands on the most impressive gear and still and up taking shit pictures. I know cuz I do it all the time. :24:
