If it is true that Roy Hodgson is the next manager, I for one will not support that appointment...I will be a neutral until Hodgson. Call me all the names under the sun, but I don't see how good we would do under him, regardless of how well he has done with Fulham last season

:surrender=I will no longer be Liverpool FC supporter if he is appointed. I hope it is just that..rumours

Why? Considering some of the other names being talked about Hodgson wouldn't be a bad choice at all.

Plus it's not like you'll ever be a Title challenging team again, so take what you can get.

Hodgson is a better manager than Dalglish if you ask me. Dalglish inherited a fantastic squad, he never built it. Frankly, I think Liverpool need to cut off the players holding them back, and cash in on the prima donna's.
They could make £150million in player sales this summer (Torres, Gerrard, Babel, Riera, Mascherano) So take it and build a new squad.

Although there are better rumours out there, did you hear how Gerrard got a 13 year old girl pregnant? And the club has paid her off.

Pfft, that is a laugh, Gerrard got 13 year old pregnant...whatever next

Hodgson is not a better manager than Dalglish, no one will ever be near King Kenny

Yeah, every player would blinking leave if Hodgson took charge, no wonder why we would make £150million, not exactly business minded, are they?

Ummm, selling Torres for £80 mil will give you a profit of £60 million. What exactly is your point?

Liverpool need to start over, that's a fact. The best way to do that is a clear out. Most teams who have underperformed so massively would kill for the sort of silly money offers that a number of liverpool's players will command.

Getting rid of the best players, because you are getting in a manager who has only one season "proved" himself, is not good business acumen to say the least. I know Capello isn't exactly going to be cheap or available, but it is better than getting in a manager who isn't exactly quality

I think you're viewing this from a slightly rose coloured pair of spectacles.

Liverpool can't attract a manager of quality because
  • they are a team in freefall, with a group of unhappy players who refuse to commit to the club.
  • A pair of directors fleecing the club for every penny it's worth, while pricing themselves out of the market for a sale.
  • Unmanagable debts that are escalating
  • No champions league football
  • a europa league qualification campaign that begins in about 2 weeks or so
  • even Rafa Benitiz, one of the most respected managers in the game, who overturned the domination of the El Classico teams in Spain, and won the Champions league with a team that boasted such star names as Igor Biscan and Djimi Traore, couldn't quite get liverpool that league title the fans demand.

What you are forgetting, he got rid of those players straight after the Champions League, even Smicer wasn't spared, yup, he scored one of the goals on our come back trail, where were those players that got us to 2nd place the season before? Oh, they weren't there

If we had hung on to those players, we wouldn't of won the FA Cup the following season let alone be runners up the season before, because those players couldn't cut it in the long season that England has

What's your point?

Mine is that nobody wants to manage Liverpool, and who can blame them?

But Liverpool aren't a top team anymore. They aren't going to attract the top players anymore because teams like Man United and Chelsea can offer guaranteed Champions league football and teams like Man City have all the money. Plus there's Arsenal and Spurs who at this moment in time are better prospects. Remember, the only reason Liverpool are in Europe this season is because Portsmouth couldn't take their place.

Just be happy with who you can get, Hodgson is a good manager who has been proven elsewhere and has put together a good team on a shoestring.

I don't agree with you, Hogdson is just a terrible manager, I will no longer be a supporter, just a neutral if he is appointed as manager, lots of other Liverpool fans are agreeing with me, but then again some were calling for Rafa to leave, which I was not one of them, we have a debt that can be solved if we find the right buyer for the club, prefer not to have a joint chairman like Hicks and Gillette, who I think are complete jokers. I don't think it is because they are Americans, look at Randy Lerner at AV, he has left O'Neil to his own devices, with the quiet prods if things weren't good

Bring on the Dubai Investment if they're interested still

I'm not sure how you can say Hodgson is a terrible manager. But then you're a Liverpool fan, so naturally nobody is good enough for the greatest team on the planet :sarcasm

I think the problem is always, regardless of nationality, is owners interfere too much with what's going on on the pitch etc. Liverpool is a great example because the owners are squabbling and no manager should have to work under those conditions.

Same logic with chairmen etc. Take a team like Blackburn for example, sure they aren't the best team but the chairman lets Sam get on with it, because it isn't essential to to interfere with the club, same with Villa.

On Hodgson I'll agree to disagree, I think he's done a very good job with Fulham, he did a good job with Blackburn when he was there. He was excellent as the Switzerland manager. Plus he has current experience, something which Dalglish lacks. Sure the Liverpool fans would love him but I think it would be a terrible appointment.

I think you should be happy you've found an English manager with a proven track record, both domestically and abroad who can get the best out of mediocre players (which if you're looking for an adjective to describe 99% of the Liverpool team, mediocre would be the most fitting)

Most of these mediocre players were internationals, most if all of what we have would just leave the club, leaving us with nowt
