Heh, I was watching the rundown of some winter sports and was astonished to learn that Great Britain once won olympic gold in Ice Hockey... back in 1936.

I'm kind of surprised we haven't got a team in this Olympics, there's a pretty healthy ice hockey league in Britain.

I didn't even realise we had one :surrender

As for tonight's match, it will be interesting. Perhaps Canada will have a point to prove after the shootout that shouldn't have been.

I am so friggin happy that Cindy tipped in the first goal :D

Then he slid like a flying Nancy missing the puck trying to pretend to play some defense on the last goal in the 2nd period :D

Miller did play great and that was intense at the end. What a play that guy made to get the empty net goal.

Gotta say I loved how Cindy played. :D

I think he is the biggest fraud of a superstar I have ever seen. He is all flash. Tis a two way game and he does not always do that.

I dont really remember seeing Mario, Gretzky as defensive ones either....Mario was always around the red/blue line...sickening that they would allow such a large ice gap...but what was Over-chicken thinking hitting Jagr that hard???

Naw, Canada will choke because that is what they do. Especially at home. :surrender

I was watching all the build up, you've got to be the only Canadian I've heard that didn't think you would win. Every Canadian they spoke to thought it was unthinkable that Canada wont win gold, something I found surprising seeing they only finished 6th or 7th at the last Olympics.

The European community has been a force in the NHL and the Russians finally realized they need to be one federation to "win" The Americans are good, not great (partly because they don't train as a team year round like the old Russian teams did) and before they let the pros into the Olympics, most of those kids were coming straight from college.

The Olympics is no judge of which country has the best team. Canada probably has the best players on paper but when you do not have much time to prepare as a team it is nothing more than all stars cobbled together with the best of the rest.

So strange things can happen.

And I hate Crosby so I am just gloating that he was unable to highhandedly win the game for Canada.

It is too bad the NHL does not learn for the Olympics and get the tv time outs removed. With technology today there is no excuse for the delays. The pace in the Olympics is tremendous.

agreed 100% the pace was quick and it helped because momentum never was halted due to a tv timeout!!!

Don't worry. I'm just like every other Canadian. :p I said "choke" for a reason. Canada SHOULD win this tournament because we have, hands down, the best players in the world. Heck, we could have sent a B team to these Olympics that would have been gold medal favourites. But Canadian athletes in general have the habit of choking on the world stage and I, for one, am bloody sick of it. :mad

You can put alot of blame on Brodeur being a monkey and deciding for himself to give them a couple of goals.
The team didn't play all that well but Brodeur was truly a tool.
As much as I hated to admit it, I wanted to see Loo start that game.
