I honestly think 'Permanent Waves' by RUSH was the first album I ever purchased with my own money.

1964 or '65 I bought the Four Seasons album that included songs like Let's Hang on etc. I played that thing so much I'm sure I ruined more than one needle. I was no older than 12 at the time.

Actually I was handed down everything Led Zep by my older brother when he went disco in '75.
Besides the Van Halen album my mom bought me in '79 I never had a need to purchase anymore music until I discovered RUSH while taking bong hits at Steve's house in the summer of '81.
