I have no health insurance. I'm getting over a cold, or have been over it for a week or so rather. But this damn cough! My mom thinks I should go to a Patient First or something. I've done some research; starting to think maybe bronchitis. Cannot afford this. :(

Why not research online to see how u can take care of it without having to shell out money for a hospital bill?

There's almost nothing doctors can really do for colds and their after effects. Save your money. Get some rest, drink lots of fluids and let it run it's course.

I can't get rest. I have to go to work. In a VERY public environment. :( I shouldn't be going in, but my manager gets pissy when I leave. I had a fever earlier this week and she was really mean about sending me home.

Do your lungs burn when you cough? Look up the symptoms of bronchitis. See if have them.

Drinking lots of fluids will help the congested feeling in your chest. If you have bronchitis, you'll have to get to a doc. You'll need anti-biotics. I'm sorry Kimmy...this sucks!

How old is the cough

If its bronchitus just tough it out. I think I had it a week ago, fucking horrible, try to get some sleeping aids is all I can suggest.

I'm sorry, but I disagree. I've not been to a doctor for a cold or like illness ( and yes, bronchitis which I had a little over a week ago) in more than 20 years. I've also not taken an anti-biotic for any such nonsense, either. Anti-biotics are vastly over-prescribed in this country and most of the time have little or no effect in speeding up the course of the illness.

I'm no bio expert, but surely antibiotics will do nothing to combat Bronchitis.. I'm not aware its a bacteria infection.

either way, it sucks that you can't just pick up and go to the docs. You need insurance to do so....You have to pay to live. Fucked up system

Your manager needs to be reprimanded! It's people like that who aid in the spread of illness across the workplace by not allowing a genuinly ill person to go home and get rest. :(

I'm so very sorry you feel bad.

I had no insurance at one time.... I had to call around to various pharmacies to see who would give a cash customer the best price on prescriptions. That sucked..... :(

I know a lot of places around here... mainly factories.... where the people who work there get points against them if they are absent.... no matter what the reason. So many points and you lose your job. That of course became policy because of those that take advantage of the system.

It's just a jew thing, my Mum does it to me all the time and it makes you feel good..

It's got lots of good stuff in it and it tastes awesome..

Go for Chicken Soup, cause I'm a jew, and I said so :D

This is one of the reasons I'm so glad we have the NHS in the UK.

A trip to the doctors in the morning and they get you sorted.

You're lucky, I was on the phone with my loving wife the Dr. as I was reading this thread so I asked a quick "What can you do for cold related bronchitis?" She said and I quote...

my lovin wife said:
Most bronchitis, especially following a cold, is viral so there's nothing a doctor can really do for you. All you can do is treat the symptoms.

Get either aspirin or advil and some mucinex or other expectorant. The mucinex will help you cough up the crud floating around in your chest and the aspirin/advil will help with the inflammation of your bronchial tubes reducing mucus production.

If you have any nasal congestion and drainage, add a decongestant like real pseudophedrine (the stuff you have to sign your life away for).

Hope that helps you some...
