I opened my electrical bill for this past month and I about had a heart attack! It is $298.00! :eek That is outrageous! It's usually in the $160.00 range!
I just paid my $ 307.70 bill.
:eek Holy cow! How many people live in your house?
you don't have to replace all the windows at once plus look into doing it yourself it wont cost as much as you think.ps do the rooms nearest the thermostat first and the rooms you don't use do last and cover those windows with plastic.Uh well, I'd rather they replaced the windows at my house.
I probably have a 10 grand investment in windows which will be hitting me over the course of 10 years.

how many windows are there in the house and have you priced any yet. There is only one window near the Tstat.
I have 5 windows that are broken. One without a storm window and they're all covered with plastic.
There's one in the spare room that has no window pane in it. yeah, it's gone.
lol yeah get the pipe first but the windows wont be as much as you think no wheres near $10k , i had a 10x16 addition added my kitchen redone with cabinets and all the windows in the house were replaced alot of work oh and my doors were replaced to plus work in the basment stairs relocated , oh and my bathroom totally redone for under $40k, if you look around i think your windows can be done for less then $4K, JUST DONT LET YOURSELF BE RIPPED OFF.ps estimates are free. There's 12 windows that need to be replaced at the least. The 2 in the kitchen seem ok for now, but eventually new = good.
I haven't priced anything because I'm more worried about getting the sewer pipe leak fixed.
If you look at my avatar, you can see at least 5 of the windows I want to replace.
it's not as bad as you think once you pull the old window out and see whats there you may have to put in some new 2x4 for frame the new windows will be made for you to just slap in , really not as bad as you think bro.Keep in mind none of these windows are exactly the same. They're all different sizes, and they appear to be the original windows from 1927. They have the pullied rope systems with weights on the other ends to hold the windows up when you open them. Half the windows don't have the weights on them.
I have a feeling that a lot of the old material will need to be caulked/resealed when the new windows are installed at the same time.
This could be very easy, or it could be a giant PITA.
